HARRISBURG – A group of state House Republicans have unveiled a series of bills aimed at bolstering and advancing startup initiatives throughout Pennsylvania. The legislators believe that these bills will capitalize on the state's assets and help it keep pace with other startup-friendly regions such as Silicon Valley and New York.

The bills, introduced by Reps. Mike Armanini, Valerie Gaydos, Aaron Bernstine, Marla Brown, and Michael Stender, cover a range of measures to support startups in the Commonwealth. Representative Armanini, for instance, proposed the establishment of a "Commonwealth Startup Week" and the creation of a task force on Startup Venture Opportunities. He emphasized the need for Pennsylvania to adopt a more agile approach to seizing new startup opportunities.

Representative Gaydos's legislation focuses on providing tax deductions to in-state startups to ensure their long-term sustainability. She highlighted the importance of fueling innovation and supporting new businesses within the state.

Representative Bernstine's bill aims to empower student entrepreneurs through the Student Startup Incubator Network, while Representative Brown's proposals seek to connect startups with early-stage investors and incentivize technology research through tax credits.

Representative Stender's bill focuses on restoring funding for venture investment programs in Pennsylvania, underscoring the crucial role that startups play in driving the local and state economy.

In response to the bills, Representative Stender commented, "Pennsylvania is home to many early-stage startups that drive our local and state economy, and we must continue to provide funding to these high-impact ventures."

The legislators hope that these initiatives will create a supportive ecosystem for startups in Pennsylvania, encouraging innovation and economic growth within the Commonwealth.
