Rep. Aaron Bernstine is set to host a free shredding event on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Forward Township Municipal Building in Evans City. This initiative aims to provide residents of the 8th Legislative District an opportunity to protect themselves against identity theft by securely destroying personal documents.

The location for this event is 207 Ash Stop Road, Evans City. “My shredding event offers residents an easy and effective way to protect themselves from identity theft,” stated Bernstine. He emphasized that disposing of documents with sensitive information is crucial in preventing fraud and securing personal data.

The event targets items containing private details such as bank account or Social Security numbers. Participants are advised not to bring items like old phone books, magazines, cards, letters, folders, newspapers, junk mail, which can be recycled instead. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed; however, documents should be taken out of binders and notebooks.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to help constituents safeguard their personal information. Shredding documents that contain private details is a simple way to avoid identity theft and keep your financial data safe,” said Bernstine.

There is no need for advance registration for this event. For additional information, residents may contact Bernstine’s offices at 724-847-5291 or 724-752-2120.
