Bernstine announces nearly 6K in grants for fire and EMS in 8th District

Rep. Aaron Bernstine announced that fire companies and emergency medical services (EMS) agencies in the 8th District have been awarded state grants totaling nearly $216,000. These funds come from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The grant program supports projects such as construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction for fire and ambulance companies. Bernstine emphasized the importance of supporting local fire and EMS agencies, stating: “Local fire and EMS agencies are the backbone of our community’s safety, and it’s crucial that we support them with the resources they need to operate effectively.”

– Ellwood City Volunteer Fire Department: $13,309
– New Beaver Borough Volunteer Fire Department: $12,018
– Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department: $13,525
– Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department: $12,234
– Volant Volunteer Fire Company: $13,525
– Wampum Volunteer Fire Department: $12,449
– Wurtemburg Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department: $13,310
– Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company: $15,892
– Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company: $13,094
– Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department: $13,740
– Portersville Muddycreek Township Volunteer Fire Department: $13,310
– Prospect Volunteer Fire Department: $13,740
– Unionville Volunteer Fire Company: $16,322
– West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department: $14,170
– Enon Valley Community Volunteer Fire Department: $12,018

All eligible companies that apply receive funding if they meet requirements outlined by OSFC. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to obtain their grants.
