Reps. Aaron Bernstine and Marla Brown announced that the Lawrence County Historical Society will receive a $9,000 grant to help preserve and maintain historically significant records and artifacts in the county.
“The Lawrence County Historical Society is a vital guardian of our community’s past, and this grant helps ensure its irreplaceable records and artifacts remain protected,” said Bernstine. “I’m proud to support funding that preserves our shared history and keeps it accessible for future generations.”
“Our historical societies play an essential role in educating the public and strengthening our sense of place,” said Brown. “This investment will help the Lawrence County Historical Society continue its important work maintaining exhibits, records and programs that celebrate our county’s rich heritage.”
The grant will be used to cover operating expenses necessary for keeping proper temperature and humidity levels at the society’s historic home, museum, and office building. These measures are important for protecting archival materials related to Lawrence County’s history.
Funding for this grant comes from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission through its Cultural and Historical Support Program, which offers general operating support to museums and official county historical societies.
