Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) was sworn in for her second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Tuesday at the state Capitol. Brown, who made history in 2020 as the first Republican to represent the 9th Legislative District since 1952 and as its first female representative, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving.

“It is an incredible honor to continue representing the residents of Lawrence County and to serve as their voice in Harrisburg,” said Brown. “Over the past two years, we have made great strides in improving the quality of life for our community, and I am excited to build on that progress this session.”

Brown highlighted her commitment to protecting constitutional rights, advocating for Pennsylvania’s energy economy, and ensuring access to quality education. “I remain dedicated to fighting for our shared values, promoting local economic growth and working collaboratively to create a brighter future for Lawrence County and the entire Commonwealth,” she stated.

For the 2025-26 legislative session, Brown will serve on several committees including House Appropriations, Aging and Older Adult Services, Commerce, Health, and State Government. She is also co-prime sponsor of legislation aimed at reducing Personal Income Tax rates and increasing property tax relief funding.

Before entering politics in 2020, Brown spent 15 years as an executive at UPS before moving into entrepreneurship with a medical spa business in Georgia. She later became CEO of a nonprofit Catholic pro-life organization where she significantly expanded its operations.

Brown’s district office remains open at 28 N. Mill St., New Castle with operating hours from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Constituents can reach out via phone or social media platforms for assistance with state-related issues.
