In Harrisburg, Representative Marla Brown of the 9th Legislative District announced the allocation of over $1.9 million in state funding aimed at enhancing community infrastructure. The funds are intended to improve safety, transportation, and water quality across various projects.

“Improving our community infrastructure is essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents,” stated Brown. She emphasized that these grants will support local governments and organizations in making necessary upgrades to wastewater systems, transportation projects, and public facilities. “As someone who is deeply committed to advancing our region’s economic development, I’m proud to be part of these efforts, helping to build a foundation for a thriving community and a better quality of life for families in the 9th District.”

The funding will support several local initiatives:

– Bessemer Municipal Authority received $450,000 for upgrading its aging wastewater treatment plant in Bessemer Township.
– Lawrence County was awarded $100,000 for renovations on the Stavich Bike Trail in New Castle.
– Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation secured $225,000 for refurbishing the Cedar Street Industrial Office Building.
– Mahoning Township obtained $150,000 to rehabilitate a pump station in Lawrence County.
– North Beaver Township Municipal Authority received $150,000 for electrical improvements at the Hickory View sewage treatment plant.
– South New Castle Borough was granted $75,000 for constructing a salt shed building.
– Taylor Township got $500,000 for sewage treatment plant upgrades to meet state environmental standards.
– Wilmington Township was allocated $436,454 to purchase new equipment replacing outdated machinery.

These grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The authority manages fiduciary responsibilities related to funding programs and investments promoting Pennsylvania’s economic growth. These LSA grants are funded through gaming revenues.
