Lawrence County Schools issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.

LCSS CTE Programs Excel in National Industry Certification Attainment Despite Covid-19 Challenges

The Career & Technical Programs of Lawrence County Schools have continued to excel in National Industry Certification attainment of students with 959 earned during the 2019-20 school year!  This is a great accomplishment of students and teachers of the CTE programs of our community.  Having a diploma plus focus for every student makes this effort even more valuable.  The nationally recognized industry certifications Lawrence County School System students earned include MOS, CNA, OSHA 10, Servsafe, and MLR.  CTE Director, Shannon Watson explains, “Early Post Secondary Opportunities are a great focus in education and rightly so.  It is proven that students that complete an EPSO such as industry certification are more likely to continue his or her education that ultimately leads to high skill and high wage careers. As CTE Director, I am very proud of all CTE Teachers and Students that worked diligently to complete industry certifications during a school year like none other.”

Lawrence County School System CTE Programs have added two new National Industry Certifications for the 2020-21 school year.  Students within the program of Engineering  will have the opportunity to complete the Precision Measurement Certification which is a direct need of our local labor market.  In addition, the Virtual Enterprise International programs of all three high schools have added a Remote Worker Certification which is extremely relevant to our current culture.  The goal of every CTE Program within LCSS is to offer a nationally recognized industry certification at no cost to students.
