Lawrence County Schools issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
LCSS parents and guardians:
In an effort to continue to provide our students in-person learning, and, out of an abundance of caution, LCSS has determined the safest learning model beginning in January 2021 is the Hybrid Learning Model.
During the fall semester, LCSS faculty and staff implemented the Hybrid, Remote, and 4-day In-Person Learning Models. Each provided our students with the best instruction available. LCSS continues to strengthen instructional practices during these challenging and difficult times.
Beginning in January 2021, schools will remain on the Hybrid Learning Model with a transition to daily online learning experiences for our students when they are not physically present in the classroom. During this Hybrid Learning Model, teachers will be conducting in-person and live online instruction, students will log on and meet their classes live on their assigned remote days. All students, including those that are on the Full Remote Learning Model, will be required to login into their Google Classroom accounts on a daily basis at his/her scheduled class time. For example, your child on his/her hybrid days will physically attend school, complete remote learning assignments on Wednesday, AND will now login remotely to live instruction on his/her two other remote learning days.
Instructional sessions will be recorded and available for any student that cannot log on to live sessions and/or meet with his/her classes. If a student does not have reliable internet service, we recommend emailing their teachers directly or calling the school and arranging a time to pick up packets to complete assignments.
As a reminder, Wednesday, January 6th is a Remote Learning day for all students. Hybrid A students will attend In-Person on Thursday, January 7th, and Hybrid B students will attend In-Person on Friday, January 8th. On these days, classroom teachers and schools will be providing more details as to the implementation of live instruction moving forward. These instructional and learning opportunities will provide our students with greater access to the curriculum and establish some normalcy in their learning routine.
As we continue to provide our students with the best instructional practices, we ask for your patience and understanding with our faculty and staff.
