Race to Beat Women’s Cancer Raises Funds for Women’s Cancer Research in Pittsburgh

WHAT: The 2nd annual Race to Beat Women’s Cancers is a 5K walk/run dedicated to raising funds for women’s cancer research and improving patient care. UPMC oncologists and researchers will join hundreds of participants in raising money for critical research. The funding translates into new discoveries in cancer treatment and therapies that are curing women of breast and gynecologic cancers.

WHY: An estimated 240,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and another 90,000 are diagnosed with gynecologic cancers. For more than two decades, A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital have worked together as leaders in the fight against women's cancers. All proceeds from this event will go toward advancing women’s cancer research and patient care in the Pittsburgh region.
