Herm Cvetan, a member of North Beaver Township's Zoning Hearing Board, recently announced his candidacy for township supervisor against incumbent Supervisor Grant McKinley. Cvetan's campaign is emphasizing his independent conservative values, fresh perspective as a local farmer and his intent to shake up what he describes as the "business as usual" politics in North Beaver Township, according to an Aug. 23 release posted on X, formerly Twitter.

"While it's impossible to satisfy everyone at all times, I pledge to make genuine efforts to address the concerns of our residents and cultivate happiness wherever feasible," Cvetan said in the release. "It's an era for transformation. It's high time we had a local farmer's perspective in our offices and genuinely prioritized serving the citizens. I humbly ask for your vote and support."

Cvetan "firmly believes that for too long, the genuine needs of North Beaver Township's citizens have taken a back seat," the release reported. His campaign asserts Cvetan is more broadly challenging "business as usual" governance.

According to a New Castle News report, Cvetan and McKinley will face off in the Nov. 7 general election. McKinley will run under the Republican banner, while Cvetan will run as an Independent Conservative. No Democrats have announced they intend to run for the six-year term as an elected supervisor.

If elected, Cvetan has promised "comprehensive transparency," which would include full accounting of the township's financial undertakings. Cvetan has further promised to ensure all new ordinances and regulations are posted on the township's official website for the public promptly, his release reported.

Cvetan has also guaranteed prompt responses from the township office to ensure "residents always find a listening ear," and pledged to give due attention to the insights and concerns of recreation and youth volunteers, according to the release.

Cvetan emphasized his credentials as a local farmer, and the fresh perspective his experience would bring to the table. Cvetan said he intends to be a champion "not only for the rights of farmers but also the broader rights of landowners and residents in North Beaver Township," the release said.

Cvetan has roots in the community dating back to 1947 when his father first tilled the lands of North Beaver Township, according to the release.

Cvetan currently serves on the North Beaver Township Zoning Hearing Board, according to Lawrence County.
