Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is a broad topic, because cancer can affect structures all along the GI tract. Surgeons from the Division of Surgical Oncology practice at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and throughout UPMC to coordinate care for patients with GI cancers and other complex diseases that may occur at the same time. From routine screenings like colonoscopies through the most challenging surgeries, UPMC care teams take a multidisciplinary approach to GI diseases.This Tele-Town Hall will bring together two UPMC experts: Nathan Bahary, MD, PhD, medical director, Pancreatic Cancer Program and co-director, UPMC Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence, and Randall Brand, MD, gastroenterologist and director, GI Malignancy Early Detection, Diagnosis, and Prevention Program. They will discuss the wide variety of cancers (and co-occurring diseases) that can affect the GI tract and the steps people can take to protect their health.
