POLICE AND CITIZENS OF NEW CASTLE COUNTY JOINED TOGETHER ON TWO COMMUNITY SPECIFIC EVENTS

This past weekend (October 3rd & 4th) officers from the New Castle County Division of Police participated in Hands Across the 9 and drop the guns & pick up the love.

On October 3rd, Officers from the Community Services Unit along with community leaders and citizens of communities along the Route 9 corridor safely formed a human chain connecting communities and organizations. The chain started from the Garfield Pal and ended in Eden Park. This event represented the unity between the different organizations in the area along with the citizens of these communities. Everyone that participated was using a mask and held a 6ft rope between each other.

On October 4th, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police along with members of the community of Edgemoor came together for a peaceful march around the neighborhood in the hopes of ending gun violence.  During the march, members of the community stood shoulder to shoulder with officers and chanted “drop the guns & pick up the love”.  The officers, community, and members of The Violence Prayer Chain Foundation stood together in prayer for a safer Edgemoor. Lastly, the founder and director of The Violence Prayer & Chain Foundation; Margaret Guy spoke to the community about compassion and unity.
