Schools in 9th district receive over $951K for safety and mental health

State Rep. Marla Brown | Pennsylvania 9th Legislative District

Rep. Marla Brown has announced that schools in the 9th Legislative District have been awarded over $951,000 in grants. These funds come from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee.

Brown emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is a top priority. These grants will help our local schools strengthen security measures and provide critical mental health resources, creating a safer and more supportive learning environment for all. I’m proud to see these funds go toward supporting the future of our children and our community.”

The schools benefiting from these grants include Laurel School District with $118,590, Mohawk Area School District receiving $127,479, Neshannock Township awarded $123,140, New Castle Area School District granted $160,539, Shenango Area School District getting $119,334, Union Area School District allocated $113,708, Wilmington Area School District with $118,345, and Lawrence County Career and Technical School receiving $70,000.

These grants are part of an initiative by the PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee to enhance safety measures and provide necessary mental health services across Pennsylvania.
