Rep. Marla Brown announced that the New Castle Public Library has received $405,000 in funding for renovations. The funds come from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. The library plans to use this money to replace its failing heating and air conditioning system with energy-efficient components.

"Public libraries are the heart of our communities, and I’m pleased to see New Castle Public Library receive this much-needed funding," said Brown. "This investment will not only make the library more energy efficient but will also ensure it continues to serve as a critical resource for all Lawrence County residents."

The Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund was established by the General Assembly in 1993. It is administered by the Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries. This fund supports up to 50% of eligible costs for projects at public libraries, including energy efficiency upgrades, ADA improvements, and facility expansions.

Libraries are seen as vital hubs for learning, connection, and support for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This funding aims to enhance these roles by improving infrastructure.
