Rep. Marla Brown, representing Lawrence County, has been appointed to significant leadership roles in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2025-26 Legislative Session. She will serve as the Republican chair of the Subcommittee on Local Business under the House Commerce Committee and as the Republican secretary of the House State Government Committee.

Brown expressed her enthusiasm for these new responsibilities: “I am honored to be appointed to these important leadership positions,” she said. Brown aims to support policies that benefit small businesses in Pennsylvania, drawing from her experience as a former small business owner. She stated, “Having been a small business owner myself, I understand firsthand the challenges these entrepreneurs face. It is my passion to help lift them up so they can thrive and contribute to our local economy.”

The House Commerce Committee is tasked with initiating legislation and supervising programs affecting businesses in Pennsylvania. Its jurisdiction includes corporate governance, business corporation law, and statutes such as the Goods and Services Installment Sales Act, among others.

The House State Government Committee reviews legislation impacting state government operations. This includes proposed constitutional amendments, initiatives and referenda, ethics acts, regulatory reviews, and election code reforms.

Besides her leadership roles, Brown also participates in other committees including Appropriations and Aging and Older Adult Services.
