To help make your recovery go smoothly, UPMC St. Margaret offers a pre-operative hip and knee joint replacement education class.
This two hour informal class reviews what to expect with surgery and your recovery. You and a family member or care giver can attend. Any questions that you or your family member may have can be answered any time during the class.
Topics discussed: How to prepare for surgery so you are at your best, post operative nursing care, pain management, prevention of post operative problems, discharge planning, and the options for discharge so you can plan ahead.

Classes are held in the Van Horn Pavilion at UPMC St. Margaret. Enter the hospital through Entrance A and make a right into the Patient/Family Library.
