Thank you Ellwood City Fire Department for all that you do!

We have been extremely busy over the last few months but we would like to update everyone on the status of our ALS program.  The Paramedics have all been hired and are fitting in perfectly to our system. Within 1 week of implementing this program, our Paramedics and volunteer firefighters responded to a male who collapsed in front of his wife, in full cardiac arrest.(No pulse and not breathing). Emergencies of this nature is why we initiated this program. Our crews were on scene in minutes, started IV's, pushed cardiac medications, defibrilated him 4 times and intubated the patient. Had the Paramedics not been on duty that day, 100% guarantee this man would NOT have survived. Instead, he walked out of the hospital 5 DAYS LATER!! We don't do it for the glory or the praise... we do it for a hope that the outcome will be exactly what it was. This man is living proof that this program will work. Again thank you all who voted for the referendum and we will continue to serve our community and you to the best of our abilities.
