Welcome to the 1st Annual Swogger Lane Student Art Show!

January 21st! 1:00-5:00 PM

We are incredibly excited to be hosting our first Student Art Show!  We love art of all kinds and get excited when we see young people exploring their creativity and finding themselves within their art. This show is all about that process and wanting to encourage not just the students, but the community, to continue to cultivate those talents. We will be working with several local businesses to make this an amazing event and are thrilled to see what our kids can come up with.

The student show is totally free to enter and open to any student in grades 10th-12th that is enrolled in a school within Lawrence County. 

It is important to us that this remains a positive and fun event. Any participants displaying unkind or unprofessional behavior during the event will be disqualified.

Guidelines and Entry Form

Guidelines:

Artwork must be an original work of the student.

Students must be currently enrolled in grades 10th – 12th in a school within Lawrence County.

Artwork is limited to one entry per student.

Art can be created from the following mediums: drawing & painting (i.e., pencil, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, oil paints, acrylics, water media, mixed media/collage).

Submitted works may not exceed 24” x 36” or 4” in depth. Submission size limits do not include matting or framing.

Each piece of Art must be submitted by the student. If a teacher is submitting a student’s artwork, you must include the attached Entry Form.

No nudity, obscenities, violence or hate content permitted

Entry form must be completed and received by Swogger Lane Gallery, Gifts & Alterations by January 6

Artwork must be brought to Swogger Lane at 100 S. Jefferson St New Castle PA 16101 (in the Cascade Galleria) the day of the event during set up hours, which are between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Some of our local school districts are allowing students to drop off their artwork in their school office, and the Art Show Committee will transport the artwork to the show.

Please check with your school to see if they are participating in this. Entries must be brought to the school no later than 1/18/2022 if you choose this option. 

Criteria:

Entries will be evaluated based on originality, interpretation of subject matter/theme, creative techniques, composition, and overall art appearance.

Judging:

The art show will have a judging and presentation of awards and prizes the evening of the 21st. Contest judges will award the top submissions from each school district as well as an overall show winner!
