HARRISBURG – A group of state House Republicans unveiled a series of bills on Wednesday aimed at bolstering and advancing startup initiatives throughout Pennsylvania.

The bills, introduced by Representatives Mike Armanini, Valerie Gaydos, Aaron Bernstine, Marla Brown, and Michael Stender, seek to leverage Pennsylvania's assets, including its skilled workforce and strategic geographic location, to enhance the state's startup ecosystem.

Representative Armanini's proposals include designating a "Commonwealth Startup Week," establishing a task force on Startup Venture Opportunities, and creating a Venture Capital Ecosystem Development Program. Armanini emphasized the need for Pennsylvania to strike a balance in fostering startup growth.

Representative Gaydos' legislation focuses on providing tax deductions to in-state startups to ensure their long-term sustainability. Gaydos highlighted the importance of fueling innovation and supporting new businesses within the state.

Representative Bernstine's bill aims to empower student entrepreneurs through the Student Startup Incubator Network, promoting the development of technology companies within Pennsylvania.

Representative Brown's legislation includes establishing the Startup Investment Tax Credit to connect startups with investors, as well as leveraging the Research and Development Tax Credit to incentivize technology research by startups. Brown, drawing from her experience as a small business owner, emphasized the critical role of early investment in startup success.

Representative Stender's bill seeks to increase funding for venture investment programs, directing a portion of the Fantasy Sports Tax to support early-stage startups in Pennsylvania. Stender underscored the importance of providing funding to high-impact ventures that drive the state's economy.

In a statement, Representative Armanini encapsulated the collective sentiment of the group, emphasizing the need for Pennsylvania to capitalize on new opportunities and foster a conducive environment for startup growth.
