HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) has revealed that $100,000 in state funding has been allocated for essential improvements to Pearson and Marti parks in Lawrence County. The funding, provided by the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation (PPFF), aims to enhance the recreational facilities within the parks.

Pearson Park in Neshannock Township will receive a $50,000 grant to transform an underutilized volleyball court into a recreational game area. The upgraded amenity will feature bocce and cornhole courts, as well as artificial turf putting greens. On the other hand, Marti Park in Wilmington Township is set to benefit from a $50,000 grant to establish two pickleball courts, complete with a 10-foot perimeter fence and benches for spectators or waiting players.

Representative Marla Brown emphasized the significance of this funding, stating, "Studies show more time spent in parks can help people fight against mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and stress. Upgrading and maintaining our parks are also a source of positive economic benefits." She highlighted that well-kept parks contribute to enhancing property values, boosting municipal revenues, attracting homebuyers and workers, and drawing in tourists.
