Rep. Marla Brown has announced that Lawrence County will receive a $72,675 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The funding is designated for revising and updating the county's Solid Waste Management Plan to maintain effective waste management and environmental stewardship.

“Securing this grant is a significant achievement for Lawrence County,” stated Brown. “The updated Solid Waste Management Plan will help us address the evolving needs of our community, promote sustainability and protect our environment for future generations.”

The Municipal Waste Planning Grant Program assists counties in Pennsylvania with developing solid waste management plans that comply with current regulations and standards. The revised plan will direct the county's efforts in managing municipal waste, recycling, and related environmental activities.

“I am committed to supporting initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents in Lawrence County, and this grant is a prime example of how we can leverage state resources to benefit our local community,” added Brown.

The DEP's investment aims to enhance waste management practices across the Commonwealth. The updated plan will focus on strategies to reduce waste, increase recycling rates, and ensure environmentally responsible operations.
