Rep. Marla Brown has announced the allocation of $1.5 million in funding for public school districts within Pennsylvania's 9th Legislative District. The funds, provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Public School Facility Improvement Grant program, aim to support infrastructure upgrades across three local school districts.

"This investment in our local schools is an investment in the future of our children and communities," stated Brown. "By addressing critical needs such as HVAC, plumbing and safety upgrades, these grants ensure students and educators have the resources they need in facilities that support academic success. We are committed to creating a safe, modern and effective learning environment for every student in the 9th District."

The Mohawk Area School District will receive $650,000 for projects including plumbing, HVAC, window replacement, and other health and safety improvements at Mohawk Elementary School. The New Castle Area School District is set to obtain $200,000 for window replacements at George Washington Intermediate School. Additionally, Union Area School District will be granted $650,000 for a boiler replacement project at its middle/high school building.

"These improvements are long overdue," Brown remarked. "I am proud to help support the funding that will ensure our schools can continue to provide a top-quality education in facilities that prioritize the well-being of students and staff."

The grant program is intended to offer essential funding for facility enhancements within public school districts to maintain excellent conditions suitable for contemporary educational needs.
